Fun for the whole family... Charles H. Wilson Park, in the heart of the city and in the hearts of many within the city, offers variety of activities for the young, the old, and all those in-between!
Dedicated in 1979, this 44-acre park was purchased from the federal government to quickly become a regional facility for the South Bay area.
Programs include softball league play for men, women, and coed teams, as well as AYSO soccer teams, a skate park, and multipurpose sports complex.

- Facilities: Reservable picnic area and gazebo, concession stand, softball fields, jogging/walking course, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground, multi-use game court, Certified Farmers' Market, pond, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, restrooms.
- Train Rides:
located in the South East end of Wilson Park (at Washington Street). The Southern California Live Steamers offer Free Little Train Rides on the First Sunday of the Month, (except in July,) from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
- No golf.
- No dogs without leashes.
- No unauthorized overnight camping.
- No parking and driving of cars on park grounds.

In addition to Wilson Park, Torrance has (39) thirty-nine other park areas throughout the city, offering such interesting activities throughout the summer as Fitness Week, Wet & Wild Week, Technology Week, Fun in the Sun Week, as well as these programs below:
- Carpenter Program: Traveling throughout the parks in the summer, this program allows children 6 & up to make a variety of wood crafts while learning to saw, hammer, sand, and paint.
- Fun & Games at the Park: Throughout the summer afternoons at the park will be filled with the earthball, parachute and tug-o-war ropes. These games will rotate through the park locations until the middle of August. Call the Parks & Recreation department for more information at (310)618-2930.
The Wilson Park Sports Center - 2400 Jefferson Street, (310) 328-4964(east end of parking lot), provides a Roller Hockey Rink maintained & operated by the Torrance Skate Association, a gymnasium, a multipurpose room, and a separate Skateboard Park.
- Family Skate Nights, are provided every third Friday night for the whole family.
- 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.; $2.00 per person; helmets are mandatory.
- Limited number of helmets, skates & wrist guards available for rent.
- Skateboard Park - a 23,000 square foot outdoor facility designed exclusively for skateboarding, and aggressive in-line, it offers a challenging environment for all skill levels including a beginner's area, a street course with a 6-foot bowl, a roof gap, planter boxes, hand rails and drop ins from a 7-foot high pyramid.
The custom design offers endless runs and delivers non stop excitement. All elements are steel and wood framed and are Skatelite surfaced for maximum flexibility. The park is open 7 days a week, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and has stadium lighting for night sessions. The number of skaters is limited to 55 per session for safety.
